The Australia government\u2019s Essential 8 cybersecurity framework has been a boon to the company growth in the region, according to Danny Jenkins, CEO and co-founder of security firm Threatlocker.<\/p>\n
Speaking to CRN at the brand\u2019s recent Best of Breed conference in the US, Jenkins discussed his firm\u2019s international expansion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThreatlocker has four offices globally; in Orlando, Dublin, Dubai and Brisbane. So those are very important markets to us and we continue to grow there. We want to solve problems all over the world, and we do incredibly well in the Middle East and in Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n
He cited the government\u2019s security framework as one of the reason\u2019s behind this performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cAustralia has an advantage in that they have the \u2018Essential 8\u2019, which has been a really effective strategy of the government to push cybersecurity. Out of the eight things on the list, we solve for five of them immediately out of the box, which has really helped us,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause that means you don\u2019t need to buy eight different products, you can buy Threatlocker and solve the five of the most complex issues on the list.\u201d<\/p>\n
AI as a bubble<\/p>\n
He also discussed the recent AI boom, describing it as a \u201cbubble\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuddenly we have LLMs that can generate things like a human,\u201d Jenkins said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, it’s essentially regurgitating what it’s learned on the internet. And what this has created as a massive boom in AI or attention to AI.\u201d<\/p>\n
He drew attention to Nvidia\u2019s market valuation as an example.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we look at Nvidia\u2019s stock price, last time I checked it was trading at 35 times revenue on a non-recurring revenue business, which is amazing. Intel trades at one and a half times revenue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd let’s just assume that\u2019s adjustment for better technology, even then Nvidia would have to sell 10 to 20 times more chips to grow into that valuation, which is absolutely bonkers. If people don’t buy chips next year, it’s all gone.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I think the AI side, it’s a bubble,\u201d Jenkins concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Danny Jenkins discusses global expansion with CRN.
