Kristen Bell is facing backlash online for what she wrote in her \u201ctone-deaf\u201d anniversary post to her husband, Dax Shepard.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Bell, 45, shared an Instagram photo of the couple hugging on their bed, with the caption, \u201cHappy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: \u2018I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I\u2019m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.\u2019<\/p>\n
In the comments section, fans accused Bell of making light of domestic violence.<\/p>\n
\u201cKristen there\u2019s no way you posted this during domestic violence awareness month \u00f0\u0178\u02dc\u00ad,\u201d one follower wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cjust an fyi, posting this caption during domestic violence awareness month is unbelievably tone deaf :\/ please reconsider,\u201d someone else said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease don\u2019t joke about domestic violence. Please keep in mind that this is something real that lots of people suffer on a daily basis,\u201d a different person told Bell.<\/p>\n
A fourth fan said, \u201cHow can any self respecting woman stay with a man who \u2018jokes\u2019 like that? I\u2019m not even a very serious person, but that would have me leaving so fast your head would spin.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat an odd thing to say,\u201d another comment read.<\/p>\n
\u201cGirl this did NOT land the way you thought it would and now all of us are questioning why you\u2019re with this man,\u201d another critic wrote.<\/p>\n
But other followers defended Bell and her message.<\/p>\n
\u201cit was just a joke, my goodness,\u201d a comment read.<\/p>\n
\u201cCan everyone just stop! It\u2019s clearly their sense of humor. If you don\u2019t like it, move along,\u201d a different fan wrote.<\/p>\n
The Post has reached out to Bell and Shepard\u2019s reps for comment.<\/p>\n
The \u201cGood Place\u201d alum married Shepard, 50, on Oct. 17, 2013. They have daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10.<\/p>\n
While doing press at the \u201cNobody Wants This\u201d Season 2 red-carpet premiere on Thursday, Bell was reminded that her anniversary to Shepard was coming up.<\/p>\n
\u201cIs\u2026 the\u2026 oh my God, it\u2019s my anniversary!\u201d she said to an Entertainment Tonight reporter. \u201cYou know I don\u2019t remember that. Oh shoot, I\u2019m so glad that you told me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt helps that he doesn\u2019t remember, either,\u201d she added of her husband. \u201cAnd no one\u2019s at fault here, right? We\u2019re just not great with dates.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bell also teased the couple\u2019s anniversary plans.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know if making mac and cheese counts as prepping for the anniversary. But we are having a date night tomorrow, so we can celebrate,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
