acclimation to stock car racing continues.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.listnr.com\/podcast\/rustys-garage\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Talking with Greg Rust on the Rusty\u2019s Garage podcast<\/a>, van Gisbergen noted the assistance Ambrose has offered is now coming to the fore, having turned in a string of improved performances on ovals.<\/p>\n<p>Although the pair are in communication less this year, the guidance is still bearing fruit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-1?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/V8Sleuth-Magazine-1_91f7f282-3ced-4ad8-9031-10de31dcd2de_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI used to pester him every week last year, especially when I was going to new tracks and it\u2019s just amazing,\u201d said van Gisbergen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the stuff he talked about and the way he described the cars, I haven\u2019t really felt that until this year, like how you sort of just slump in the seat and let the car do what it does underneath you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s taken me a while to feel that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou just relax in the seat and let the car do the work and ignore all the sliding and let the air take over.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow he described that stuff, I just was mind blown\u2026 he was amazing, almost a coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat an amazing guy\u2026 but also how well respected he is here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone loves him, everyone speaks highly of him and it\u2019s so cool.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, you say the word, the name Marcos Ambrose here and everyone just lights up and has good memories of him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/1-18-scale-2019-bathurst-1000-97-holden-commodore-zb-van-gisbergen-tander-model-pre-order?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1_dd2c166a-3771-44ad-9c7f-0f0fc699f825_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Van Gisbergen\u2019s rookie season has seen him claim five race wins, while his recent form on ovals has included a tenth at Kansas and an 11th place result yesterday at Talladega.<\/p>\n<p>Currently in the standings, SVG is placed 12th, at the head of the pack of drivers that were eliminated in the Round of 16, and also ahead of Austin Cindric.<\/p>\n<p>The compare and contrast between the rookie seasons of van Gisbergen and Ambrose makes for interesting reading.<\/p>\n<p>Ambrose had a longer runway to his first full NASCAR Cup Series tilt, having completed a season in the Truck Series and two years in what is now the Xfinity Series, while van Gisbergen has been elevated to Cup from a single year in the Xfinity Series.<\/p>\n<p>While the calendar now features six road courses, in 2009, it only featured two \u2013 Sonoma and Watkins Glen.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, Ambrose still recorded seven top ten performances, with oval top tens at Bristol (twice), Talladega, Pocono and Daytona \u2013 he finished fourth at the first Talladega race when Carl Edwards was dispatched into the catch fence by Brad Keslowski, and third at the Bristol Night Race.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, in that pre-Playoff era, Ambrose finished 18th in points.<\/p>\n<p>Van Gisbergen, meanwhile, will be looking to add to his seven top-ten finishes for 2025 this weekend in Martinsville.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SHANE van
