Lorenzo Musetti is keeping his eye on both Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev at the moment.<\/p>\n

Musetti has enjoyed the best year of his career in 2025<\/a>, particularly during the clay court season where he reached the Monte Carlo Masters<\/a> final, and the semifinals of Roland Garros<\/a>, the Madrid Open<\/a> and the Italian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After reaching the quarterfinals of the US Open<\/a> for the first time, the Italian was looking to continue his progress in Asia, but Musetti was criticised for his behaviour in China<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Musetti<\/a> has now returned to Europe, but he has admitted he now has his eyes on Brussels champion Auger-Aliassime<\/a> and Almaty Open winner Medvedev<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Due to his impressive season in 2025, Musetti has put himself in contention for the ATP Finals<\/a> in Turin.<\/p>\n

Musetti currently holds a position that would see him qualify for the year-end tournament, but he has suggested that he is feeling vulnerable with rival players currently closing down on him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a comfortable position I would say, and of course the guys who are besides me they are playing good,\u201d Musetti told the ATPTour.com<\/a> ahead of the Vienna Open<\/a>. \u201cUnfortunately they are playing really good.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course they are getting closer, and that of course gives a little bit of pressure. Unfortunately the last two tournaments didn\u2019t go really, really well, so I might have lost a little bit of chance to take some advantage, but of course we are here in Vienna and I want to play match by match and don\u2019t think too much about points, about maths, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musetti was then asked more specifically about Auger-Aliassime and Medvedev<\/a>, who he admitted he is worried about.<\/p>\n

The world number eight also mentioned Holger Rune, who suffered a serious injury<\/a> last week, with Musetti wishing him well in his recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, of course they are in the conversation,\u201d responded Musetti. \u201cHolger was in the conversation, but unfortunately as we saw big injury in Stockholm, so I wish him of course good luck for coming back, I know that he\u2019ll be coming back stronger for sure. But, he was playing really well, so them I feel that they are the players to worry about.\u201d<\/p>\n

Can Lorenzo Musetti qualify for the ATP Finals in Vienna?<\/p>\n

The race to the ATP Finals is really heating up, with only Carlos Alcaraz<\/a>, Jannik Sinner<\/a> and Novak Djokovic<\/a> confirming their qualification so far.<\/p>\n

Despite qualifying, Djokovic\u2019s participation at the ATP Finals is actually still in doubt<\/a>, with the 38-year-old withdrawing from the tournament last year due to his much more limited schedule at this latter stage in his career.<\/p>\n

Alexander Zverev<\/a>, Taylor Fritz<\/a> and Ben Shelton<\/a> also look to be in strong positions, but there is a real battle for places between the likes of Alex de Minaur<\/a>, Musetti, Auger-Aliassime, Stockholm Open champion Casper Ruud<\/a> and Medvedev.<\/p>\n

As is the case with Rune<\/a>, Jack Draper has also ended his season<\/a> due to an arm injury and will not be a factor in the race to the ATP Finals anymore.<\/p>\n

Musetti now faces a tough test to keep hold of his position in eighth spot and hold off the likes of Auger-Aliassime, Ruud<\/a> and Medvedev.<\/p>\n
