{"id":231754,"date":"2025-10-22T06:01:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T06:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/231754\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T06:01:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T06:01:07","slug":"marco-bezzecchi-curious-for-sepang-after-outstanding-australian-motogp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/231754\/","title":{"rendered":"Marco Bezzecchi \u201ccurious\u201d for Sepang after \u201coutstanding\u201d Australian MotoGP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aprilia returns to Sepang in Malaysia this weekend, the scene of a disastrous start to pre-season testing for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/973236\/jorge-martin\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Jorge Martin<\/a>, with the reigning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> champion still absent due to injury.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/995158\/marco-bezzecchi\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Bezzecchi\u2019s<\/a> side of the garage is riding a crest of a wave, fighting for victories at three of the last four rounds, including last weekend at Phillip Island.<\/p>\n<p>The Sprint winner had the pace to win Sunday&#8217;s Grand Prix, but couldn&#8217;t overcome a double long lap penalty from Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, third in the race also put Bezzecchi above Francesco Bagnaia for third in the world championship. If he can hold onto it, it\u2019ll be a feat never previously achieved by an RS-GP rider.<\/p>\n<p>Bezzecchi was ninth fastest at the start-of-year Sepang test, where Martin was injured early on day one, and is curious to see how much he and the RS-GP have improved since.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m extremely happy to be returning to Sepang,\u201d Bezzecchi said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a track where I\u2019ve already ridden with my bike during the pre-season tests, so we have some references and I\u2019m curious to see how it will go after all the work we\u2019ve done this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did an outstanding job on Phillip Island, and the goal is to continue along the same lines in Malaysia.
