{"id":232372,"date":"2025-10-22T11:51:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T11:51:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/232372\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T11:51:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T11:51:17","slug":"puscifer-announce-first-album-in-five-years-normal-isnt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/232372\/","title":{"rendered":"Puscifer Announce First Album in Five Years, &#8216;Normal Isn&#8217;t&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2214450592-768x512.jpg\" class=\"img-fluid rounded wp-post-image\" alt=\"Maynard James Keenan\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"image-credit text-right\">Image: Jeff Hahne\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tonedeaf.thebrag.com\/?s=puscifer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Puscifer<\/a> have announced their first new album in over five years.<\/p>\n<p>The band featuring Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell, and Carina Round will release Normal Isn\u2019t on February 6th, 2026 via Puscifer Entertainment \/ Alchemy Recordings \/ BMG.<\/p>\n<p>The 11-track collection marks a significant departure for the band, channelling the post-punk influences that shaped the members\u2019 early musical experiences whilst pushing into darker, more guitar-driven territory. \u201cWe\u2019re definitely leaning into our early influences,\u201d Keenan explains (as per <a href=\"https:\/\/blabbermouth.net\/news\/puscifer-announces-first-new-album-in-five-years-normal-isnt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Blabbermouth<\/a>). \u201cIt\u2019s the place where goth meets punk. It\u2019s where I came from.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band have previewed the album with \u201cSelf Evident\u201d and its accompanying video, filmed during a special August performance at Exchange L.A., where they performed the entire album for an intimate audience.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1761133876_630_hqdefault.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" class=\"yt-img\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"YouTube Video\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"p-a-center play-button\" src=\"https:\/\/images-r2-2.thebrag.com\/common\/icons\/controller-play.svg\" alt=\"Play\" title=\"Play\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Written and recorded across Arizona, Los Angeles, and on the road during last year\u2019s tour, Normal Isn\u2019t blends the dark electronics and sharp humour Puscifer are known for with a more spontaneous creative process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the outset, we had discussed an element of rawness and edge, which guitar brings,\u201d shares Mitchell, who co-produced the album. \u201cWe got rid of the guard rails and made the music more aggressive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Love Music?<\/p>\n<p class=\"observer-desc mb-2\"> Get your daily dose of metal, rock, indie, pop, and everything else in between.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/spinner.gif\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This release represents a new approach to songwriting for Keenan. Rather than his usual collaborative method, he set up his own digital recording system and built complete song ideas before presenting them to Mitchell and Round. Round notes this shift changed the studio dynamic entirely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of just saying, \u2018I want this to sound like Fleetwood Mac on cocaine if they had a baby with PJ Harvey,\u2019 Maynard was showing us his intention, which was really cool,\u201d she explains. \u201cIn Puscifer, any idea can totally change without any preciousness, and everybody is on board \u2014 not unlike an insane asylum. We found each other because we\u2019re demented in a symbiotic way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The album is available for pre-order in multiple limited-edition vinyl variants, including standard black, indie retail orange swirl, and exclusive coloured versions.
