Kadokawa<\/a> revealed the “ultra teaser” promotional video and “ultra teaser” visual on Saturday for the television anime<\/a> of writer Y\u016bshi Ukai<\/a> and artist Nekometal<\/a>‘s Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table<\/a> (Shib\u014d Y\u016bgi de Meshi o Kuu<\/a>) light novel series. Kadokawa also revealed more staff for the anime, and revealed the main cast member.<\/p>\n

Takehiro Ueno<\/a> (Days With My Stepsister<\/a>) is directing the anime at Studio DEEN<\/a>. Rintarou Ikeda<\/a> (The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement<\/a>) is in charge of series composition. Eri Osada<\/a> (Blade & Soul<\/a>) is designing the characters. Noriyoshi Konuma<\/a> (The Dangers in My Heart<\/a>) is the sound director.<\/p>\n

Yen Press<\/a> licensed<\/a> the light novel series and describes the story:
\nYuuki wakes up to find herself wearing a maid’s uniform in a strange manor. After wandering into the dining room, she comes across five other girls, each in the exact same outfit. Soon, the girls learn that the manor is brimming with lethal weapons and an array of deadly traps\u2026and that they can only escape by playing the most gruesome of games. As the terrifying truth sets in, each girl’s face goes pale\u2014except Yuuki’s. Why? Because this isn’t her first go-round. That’s right\u2014Yuuki is a professional death game player who lives off the prize money she collects from winning brutal killing competitions, and she’s not about to let this chance pass her by.<\/p>\n

Kadokawa’s MF Bunko J<\/a> imprint published the light novel series’ first volume in November 2022, after the series won<\/a> the Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award that same year. The novels’ eighth volume shipped in Japan on February 25.<\/p>\n

The light novel series also ranked<\/a> #1 in the New Title category of Takarajimasha<\/a>‘s 2024 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! (This Light Novel Is Amazing!) rankings. <\/p>\n

Banzai Kotobuki Daienkai<\/a> launched a manga adaptation in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace<\/a> magazine in April 2023. Kadokawa published the manga’s third volume on February 26.
