Tess and Claudia are stepping down in a momentous year for the pair, during which they were both made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King\u2019s Birthday Honours.<\/p>\n

The duo were selected for services to broadcasting, with Claudia saying at the time she felt \u201cridiculously lucky\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am incredibly grateful to receive this honour,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a real privilege to work with extraordinarily talented people and I have only got this because of them. So this is for the BBC<\/a>, the traitors and the faithful, for pianos and for the cha cha.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will buy a hat and am taking my mum. I am ridiculously lucky and will celebrate with Tess by doing a paso doble.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tess said the honour was the \u201cgreatest surprise\u201d of her life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI cried when I opened the letter, because I just I couldn\u2019t believe it,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI genuinely couldn\u2019t, and the first thing I wanted to do was tell my dad, because I lost my dad many years ago, and I know how proud my dad would have been, and I would love to have shared that news with him more than anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Appearing on Giovanna Fletcher<\/a>\u2019s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast on Tuesday (14 October), the host said that she initially decided not to tell BBC<\/a> bosses back in 2004 that she was expecting her first child.<\/p>\n

Daly said: \u201cWhat if they didn\u2019t want me because they don\u2019t want a visibly pregnant woman on a prime time show on a Saturday night, which by the way in 2004, you didn\u2019t see many.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans and celebrities alike have continued to react to the shock announcement of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman\u2019s Strictly exit.<\/p>\n

\u201cguys what do you mean no claudia next year on strictly i\u2019m truly heartbroken,\u201d one fan wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cStrictly won\u2019t be the same without Tess and Claudia. Especially the clauditorium, that\u2019s irreplaceable,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n

Former contestant and DJ Clara Amfo said: \u201cThis is quite surreal. Salute to you both, shouldn\u2019t be radical for two women to present prime time TV together, you two do it with such genuine joy towards each other. Big respect!\u201d<\/p>\n

Television presenter, Helen Skelton, who appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 said whoever steps in to replace Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly has \u201cbig shoes to fill\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou look at Tess\u2019s eyes when you finish a dance. On behalf of everyone who\u2019s been on that dance floor, you look at Tess for reassurance \u2013 and Claudia for a laugh,\u201d she told BBC 5 Live.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a real shame. They\u2019ve served that show so well. It\u2019s going to leave a massive hole. I can\u2019t for one second think that was an easy decision. It\u2019s become their identity.<\/p>\n

\u201cTess has done the show for 21 years; it\u2019s been her whole life. So, I think people will be sad when they go.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever steps into it next has big shoes to fill.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI must eat crisps and I always squeeze Tess before we go live. I get very, very nervous,\u201d Winkleman said ahead of the series\u2019s return this month.<\/p>\n
