{"id":237225,"date":"2025-10-24T09:33:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T09:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/237225\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T09:33:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T09:33:11","slug":"igaming-news-nhl-prediction-market-deal-deeply-troubling-miller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/237225\/","title":{"rendered":"iGaming news | NHL prediction market deal \u2018deeply troubling\u2019 \u2013 Miller"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    Bill Miller, president and CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA), took to LinkedIn to say that National Hockey League (NHL) partnering with prediction markets was \u201cdeeply troubling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>                            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/AGA_300_c9f0f8.png\" alt=\"AGA\" class=\"border\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tNews broke earlier this week that Polymarket and Kalshi had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intergameonline.com\/igaming\/news\/prediction-markets-here-to-stay-as-polymarket-kalshi-partner-with-nhl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">partnered with NHL<\/a>, gaining access to NHL proprietary data and rights, as well as the right to use NHL marks and logos.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThese companies operate entirely outside the legal sports betting framework established by states, tribal governments, and federal law,\u201d continued Miller. \u201cIn doing so, they threaten the integrity of sports and the protections in place for consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMiller said the partnership was not just \u201cdisappointing \u2013 it\u2019s dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cIt risks misleading fans into thinking these platforms offer the same protections and legal clarity as licensed sportsbooks,\u201d he said. \u201cThey do not.
