{"id":237297,"date":"2025-10-24T10:19:24","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T10:19:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/237297\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T10:19:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T10:19:24","slug":"alex-de-minaur-appears-to-have-been-completely-ignored-as-the-atp-make-official-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/237297\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex de Minaur appears to have been completely ignored as the ATP make official announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>The ATP Tour schedule has changed again, with the announcement of a new Masters 1000 tournament.<\/p>\n<p>News broke on Thursday that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/new-atp-tournament-to-be-created-in-saudi-arabia-which-will-be-just-below-grand-slam-level\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new Saudi Arabian Masters event<\/a> will begin in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament will be non-mandatory and will likely be played in February, during the Middle Eastern swing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2173673480-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"The Saudi Arabian flag waving in the wind in 2024\" class=\"wp-image-135120\" \/>Photo by Maksim Konstantinov\/SOPA Images\/LightRocket via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Throughout 2025, players have expressed their concerns about the volume of tennis they are currently playing, and may well be frustrated to see another tournament added to the calendar.<\/p>\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP Tour<\/a> player provided a \u2018simple solution\u2019 to the calendar issues earlier this year, which has seemingly been ignored\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Alex de Minaur had a \u2018simple solution\u2019 to the tennis calendar problem <\/p>\n<p>After suffering a shock early exit at the 2025 French Open, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/alex-de-minaur-publicly-calls-for-tennis-to-change-after-his-shock-french-open-exit-the-solution-is-simple\/#:~:text=Alex%20de%20Minaur%20calls%20for,the%20schedule%2C%E2%80%9D%20he%20said\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">De Minaur shared his idea on how to fix the schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe solution is simple, you shorten the schedule,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian proceeded to suggest what may happen to players\u2019 careers if the tour doesn\u2019t change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy ranking consists of two zeros because I was injured and I couldn\u2019t play Cincinnati, Montreal, and Shanghai, [in 2024], which is ridiculous if you ask me, but that\u2019s just the rules of the tour and where we are right now,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alex-de-minaur\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">De Minaur<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2242451069-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Alex de Minaur celebrates his win over Filip Misolic at the 2025 Vienna Open\" class=\"wp-image-138716\" \/>Photo by Mathias Schulz\/Newhouse Media\/MB Media\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe solution is you shorten it, because what\u2019s going to happen is players\u2019 careers are going to get shorter and shorter because they\u2019re going to burn out mentally, it\u2019s just too much tennis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Norway\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/casper-ruud-gives-injury-update-after-suffering-shock-defeat-to-nuno-borges-at-the-french-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Casper Ruud, who suffered an injury at the French Open<\/a>, shared similar concerns during his post-match press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou feel you\u2019re obligated to play with certain rules that the ATP has set up with the mandatory events. You feel like you lose a lot if you don\u2019t show up and play, both economically, point-wise, ranking-wise, and opportunity-wise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t play a mandatory event, they cut 25% of your year-end bonus.
