In a surprising and quite unexpected move, Alpina<\/a> celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2023 by unveiling a highly limited run of Heritage Carr\u00e9e Mechanical watches<\/a>, featuring the authentic calibre 490 hand-wound movement from 1938 inside, restored and presented in a silver case. Following positive reactions and to ensure continuity, the brand introduced non-limited versions in steel of the Heritage Carr\u00e9e<\/a>, with a modern automatic movement. Based on this appealing design, Alpina now creates a special European version that reflects the Art Deco style of its original inspiration even more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the same vein as the historical re-editions of 2023 and the modernised versions that followed soon after, the Heritage Carr\u00e9e Automatic Edition Europe has a clear Art Deco inspiration, visible on every part of the watch. And it begins with its rectangular case, which is crafted from polished stainless steel in restrained proportions. Indeed, it measures only 32.5mm in width and 39mm in length, with a slim profile that sits below 10mm. Refreshing in an era of enlarged vintage-inspired watches. Modernity is evident on the front and back, with sapphire crystals.<\/p>\n

What sets this Edition Europe apart is the dial. While a matte black version with beige details exists in the permanent collection \u2013 see here<\/a> \u2013 this limited model reinforces the 1930s theme with pointy baton markers and a rectangular small seconds counter (not unfamiliar to the Reverso). All elements of the dial, including the leaf-shaped hands and the railroad minute track, are rendered in beige for a warm, retro touch.<\/p>\n

Inside the case, modernity is represented by the calibre AL-530, based on the Sellita SW261. This automatic movement runs at 4Hz and stores 38 hours of power reserve. It is visible through the caseback with a gold-toned rotor.<\/p>\n
