Jockey Logan Bates has covered a lot of distance winning on two different courses today.<\/p>\n

The apprentice jockey won on Empire Song in race one at Yarra Valley this afternoon at 1.31pm and then he jumped in the car and scored his first group two win at Moonee Valley in the McEwen Stakes at 4.10pm.<\/p>\n

Bates told Seven he was happy to score a special win on Jigsaw for trainer Cindy Alderson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he\u2019s right, he\u2019s unbelievable. He\u2019s very quick,\u201d Bates said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt did surprise me. I copped the early pressure but got away fairly quickly. He had his ears pricked down the side, that\u2019s when you know he\u2019s loving his work.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought he was always gonna be hard to beat off the corner and when I gave him a click and he surged underneath me. It\u2019s amazing. I\u2019m rapt to see the horse in this form and Cindy as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt probably still hasn\u2019t sunk in yet but it\u2019s pretty amazing. To do it on Cox Plate day. I\u2019ve only been riding, what, just a tick over two years and to knock off a group 2 win, so early in my career, you know, I\u2019m very grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n
