{"id":239799,"date":"2025-10-25T12:00:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T12:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/239799\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T12:00:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T12:00:07","slug":"pedro-acosta-just-accepting-ongoing-ktm-motogp-struggles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/239799\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedro Acosta \u2018just accepting\u2019 ongoing KTM MotoGP struggles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pedro Acosta says \u201cI just accept\u201d that his pre-season ambitions of fighting \u201cfor something bigger\u201d are unlikely amid his current struggles on the KTM MotoGP bike.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard topped Friday practice at the Malaysian Grand Prix, but couldn\u2019t carry that speed into qualifying, where he ended up fifth on the grid.<\/p>\n<p>After an early podium challenge in Saturday\u2019s sprint, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1040772\/pedro-acosta\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pedro Acosta<\/a> dropped two seconds behind Gresini\u2019s Fermin Aldeguer and took the chequered flag in fourth as tyre wear once again impacted his race.<\/p>\n<p>He was later promoted to third <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1085288\/1\/fermin-aldeguer-loses-malaysian-motogp-sprint-podium-after-post-race-penalty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">after Aldeguer was hit with a penalty<\/a> for a tyre pressure infringement, though Acosta seemingly took little comfort from this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I wanted to fight for something bigger than a podium at the start of the year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, I just accept the things. Today, seven to go, I saw that there was nothing more to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just maintaining my pace and seeing what goes on. I finished fourth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the beginning of the year, I was wishing to finish in the top five.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, I am constantly there. We have to keep going, even if it\u2019s difficult to manage. It is what it is. We just have to keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRough\u201d sprint for Brad Binder at Sepang<\/p>\n<p>KTM team-mate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/939427\/brad-binder\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brad Binder<\/a> was almost 15 seconds further back in 16th, as his bike \u201cwas not going forward at all on the throttle\u201d.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe race was insane,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got a really good launch off the line. And then after that, that\u2019s pretty much where it ended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor some reason, I was not going forward at all on the throttle, especially on the left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe left-hand side of the tyre wouldn\u2019t move. I would lose so much on the drive zones and try to make up a little bit on the brakes, or try to roll [off the gas] a bit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the front wasn\u2019t having it either. So, really, really difficult race for us.
