{"id":240529,"date":"2025-10-25T19:58:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T19:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/240529\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T19:58:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T19:58:09","slug":"marco-bezzecchi-on-his-malaysian-motogp-woes-its-like-the-tyres-arent-there","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/240529\/","title":{"rendered":"Marco Bezzecchi on his Malaysian MotoGP woes: \u2018It\u2019s like the tyres aren\u2019t there\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aprilia\u2019s Marco Bezzecchi says he is struggling at the 2025 MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix because every time he uses new tyres \u201cit\u2019s as if they weren\u2019t there\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian came into the Sepang weekend on a streak of back-to-back sprints and the clear favourite to maintain late-season pressure on Ducati.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/995158\/marco-bezzecchi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Bezzecchi<\/a> failed to get directly into Q2 on Friday in Malaysia and could only manage 14th on the grid. It marked his first Q2 miss since the Aragon Grand Prix in early June.<\/p>\n<p>Bezzecchi managed to recover some ground in the sprint to get to seventh at the chequered flag, but was promoted a place <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1085288\/1\/fermin-aldeguer-loses-malaysian-motogp-sprint-podium-after-post-race-penalty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">due to Fermin Aldeguer\u2019s time penalty<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on his sprint, Bezzecchi admits he knew the Sepang weekend would be a struggle, and has blamed that on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/aprilia-racing\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aprilia<\/a> not being able to switch on new tyres.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a shame I missed my qualifying lap,\u201d he told Sky Italy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019m not complaining. I knew we\u2019d struggle here, and we\u2019re working on a lot of things that will be useful in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll weekend, when I put on new tyres, it\u2019s as if they weren\u2019t there. I can\u2019t find that extra grip that everyone has at the start of the race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I think I can do a little better in the [main] race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added later, when speaking to the English media: \u201cWell, not the best one, but many improvements, especially in the sprint.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, in the end, almost satisfied. Of course, coming from Phillip Island and Mandalika where we were pretty fast, here we\u2019ve been struggling a bit more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we\u2019ve also been understanding a lot of things that will help us for the future. So, the sprint of today was not too bad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could recover many places and I enjoyed the battle, with many overtakes.
