Each year, the \u2018triple lock\u2019 guarantee boost surprises state pensioners<\/a> across the UK. However, state pensioners could receive a surprise twice as nice, as the April 2026 State Pension increase could be even higher than initially expected. Typically, the State Pension increases at the same rate as one of the highest of the following factors:<\/p>\n Either by 2.5%, or Initially, it was reported that the average earnings growth rate was the highest among the three factors, with a rate of 4.7%. However, updated figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have disclosed that the average earnings and bonuses increased by 4.8% in the months leading up to July. This means that the April 2026 State Pension increase will be 4.8%, should there be no radical changes in the inflation rate, of course.<\/p>\n The State Pension could potentially increase to +\u00a312,000<\/p>\n While not everyone will be celebrating the boost in the State Pension due to the 66 retirement era ending soon<\/a>, it will certainly be welcome nonetheless. Now, a 0.1% difference may not seem like much, but the impact could be higher than you may think.
