{"id":240785,"date":"2025-10-25T22:51:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T22:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/240785\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T22:51:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T22:51:10","slug":"maple-leafs-and-sabres-players-sport-blue-jays-jerseys-during-walk-ins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/240785\/","title":{"rendered":"Maple Leafs and Sabres players sport Blue Jays jerseys during walk-ins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Both Maple Leafs and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BuffaloSabres\/status\/1982164070363959590\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sabres players<\/a> showed up at Scotiabank Arena sporting the same jerseys on Saturday afternoon. <\/p>\n<p>Despite finding themselves in the throes of a home-and-home battle, players from both sides of the border showed up in Blue Jays jerseys to support the MLB organization they share an allegiance to.<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Jays roster for Game 2 of the World Series (8 p.m. ET \/ 5 p.m. PT, Sportsnet, Sportsnet+)\u00a0includes many Buffalo Bisons graduates from Toronto&#8217;s minor league affiliate. <\/p>\n<p>Leafs players have made it a point to don Blue Jays gear as they get set for their showdowns, with the NHL relaxing its dress code over the off-season. <\/p>\n<p>After Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. showed up to Game 7 of the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners in an Auston Matthews jersey, the Maple Leafs captain returned the favour with a Jays shirt ahead of Tuesday&#8217;s game against the New Jersey Devils.<\/p>\n<p>Later on Saturday, the Los Angeles Kings \u2014 ahead of their game against the Nashville Predators \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/LAKings\/status\/1982212109569003777\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">sported Dodgers jerseys<\/a> to support their fellow Angelinos and counter the support from the Leafs and Sabres. <\/p>\n<p>The hockey clash that was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. ET was moved to 5 p.m. ET to accommodate the Fall Classic after the Blue Jays advanced to the World Series.<\/p>\n<p>The Maple Leafs lost the first of two consecutive games against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/buffalo-sabres\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"buffalo-sabres\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Buffalo Sabres<\/a> 5-3 on Friday.
