British Airways has halted its sponsorship of Louis Theroux\u2019s podcast over an interview with the frontman of Bob Vylan.<\/p>\n

The airline has withdrawn its adverts from the journalist\u2019s podcast after he interviewed Bobby Vylan \u2013 whose real name is Pascal Robinson-Foster.<\/p>\n

On it, Vylan said he was \u201cnot regretful\u201d of leading chants of \u201cdeath, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]\u201d during a performance at the Glastonbury festival<\/a> this summer. He said he would \u201cdo it again tomorrow\u201d.<\/p>\n

British Airways told the PA Media that the podcast\u2019s content breached its sponsorship policy.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said: \u201cOur sponsorship of the series has now been paused and the advert has been removed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re grateful that this was brought to our attention, as the content clearly breaches our sponsorship policy in relation to politically sensitive or controversial subject matters.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe and our third-party media agency have processes in place to ensure these issues don\u2019t occur and we\u2019re investigating how this happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rap duo had to postpone two gigs after the fallout from their Glastonbury performance \u2013 including a show in Manchester \u2013 after calls from MPs and Jewish community leaders.<\/p>\n

Bob Vylan was dropped by its agency UTA, and the US state department revoked the members\u2019 visas, forcing them to cancel a North American tour.<\/p>\n

In the podcast, recorded on 1 October, when Theroux asked if Vylan stood by the chant and if he would do it again, he said<\/a>: \u201cOh yeah. Like what if I was to go on Glastonbury again tomorrow, yes I would do it again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not regretful of it. I\u2019d do it again tomorrow, twice on Sundays. I\u2019m not regretful of it at all, like the subsequent backlash that I\u2019ve faced. It\u2019s minimal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s minimal compared to what people in Palestine are going through. If that can be my contribution and if I can have my Palestinian friends and people that I meet from Palestine that have had to flee, that have lost members in double digits of their family and they can say: \u2018Yo, your chant, I love it.\u2019 Or it gave me a breath of fresh air or whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that he did not want to overstate the importance of the chant. \u201cThat\u2019s not what I\u2019m trying to do, but if I have their support, they\u2019re the people that I\u2019m doing it for, they\u2019re the people that I\u2019m being vocal for, then what is there to regret? Oh, because I\u2019ve upset some rightwing politician or some rightwing media?\u201d<\/p>\n

Vylan\u2019s Glastonbury set was livestreamed by the BBC, which faced criticism for not pulling the feed.
