Between her upcoming Bollywood track, Poison Baby in Thamma, her collaboration with Hanumankind for the title track of the upcoming film Dhurandhar, and her latest album Illegal Robbery, her work, she insists, is always purposeful. \u201cEvery song I create has to have a purpose behind it \u2014 whether it makes people dance, heal, or feel powerful,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/JS3_1761368976942_1761369005591.jpg\" alt=\"Jasmine Sandlas has sung Poison Baby\" title=\"Jasmine Sandlas has sung Poison Baby\" width=\"360\" height=\"202\"\/>Jasmine Sandlas has sung Poison Baby<\/p>\n<p class=\"articleDetail_content__LXgYY \">The 40-year-old is aware of the scrutiny the Punjabi music industry often faces for its portrayal of women. However, she sees empowerment as agency. \u201cA woman can be sexy and powerful as long as she\u2019s in control. If she\u2019s dancing to her own rhythm, expressing herself freely, that\u2019s empowerment \u2014 not objectification,\u201d she says, adding that her recent song, an item number in Thamma, is an example where choice and expression are central.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articleDetail_content__LXgYY  0-0-2\">Her collaboration in Dhurandhar combines classic Punjabi sounds with contemporary energy, reflecting the balance between tradition and modernity, and reinforcing her belief that women can be multifaceted in expression. <\/p>\n<p class=\"articleDetail_content__LXgYY  0-0-4\">\u201cThe director loved the classic and wanted to glorify it, but also needed something fresh. So I wrote parts in Hindi, then Punjabi, and kept adjusting until it felt right,\u201d she says. The collaboration with Hanumankind was \u201ca last-minute blessing,\u201d she adds, describing it as \u201cepic, amazing, and everyone is in love with the sound.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"articleDetail_content__LXgYY  0-0-4\">This period also marks what Jasmine calls a \u201crebirth\u201d in her career. Having written more than 130 songs and released four albums, she says she used to overthink everything. \u201cNow, I want to think less and do more. I\u2019m following intuition, trying new things, dancing more, taking creative risks,\u201d she concludes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articleDetail_content__LXgYY  0-0-6\">However, with over ten million monthly listeners on music streaming platforms, Jasmine recognises the responsibility that comes with her platform, especially towards her female fans. \u201cI know how deeply my songs resonate with women.
