Chaz Mostert<\/a> has made it a double victory on the streets of the Gold Coast, taking his second win in two days in Sunday\u2019s 250km Supercars race.<\/p>\n

A late-race Safety Car period closed up the pack and left the drivers with a four-lap sprint to the flag, in which the Walkinshaw Andretti United<\/a> Ford driver had to fight off a determined Broc Feeney<\/a> from Triple Eight.<\/p>\n

The two made contact with a lap to go but Mostert managed to gather up his momentum and led the Chevrolet Camaro to the flag to take his third win in seven days, after a class victory last weekend in the Indianapolis 8 Hour.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s performance is all the team\u2019s,\u201d said Mostert, who prevailed by 0.5751s.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were second on the road, this win is for the team. They were perfect in the pit stops. Broc was super-fast. He showed there at the end how fast he was, you just need some luck sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Points leader Feeney, who started from pole for the 15th\u00a0time this year, was disappointed after the race.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat one certainly stings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

“We improved a lot overnight and we were the fastest car on the track but we got beaten by fuel economy in the end. We couldn\u2019t compete with that [re]fuel time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Third place went to Andre Heimgartner<\/a>, who made all his ground in the Brad Jones Racing<\/a> Chevrolet late in the race, even if he had to fight off the Grove Racing<\/a> Ford of Matt Payne and Tickford\u2019s Cam Waters on the final lap of the race.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been pretty hard- results-wise,\u201d Heimgartner said after his first podium of 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo come here this weekend, it has been a pretty horrid year. I had nothing to lose and they did so I was willing to put them in the fence for that podium.\u201d<\/p>\n

The opening 60 laps of the 85-lap race was one of the least interesting races of the year. Feeney won the start, just, from Thomas Randle<\/a>, the Tickford Ford driver forced to give way at the first chicane. Mostert followed ahead of Randle\u2019s team-mate Cam Waters. Mostert lacked the track-melting pace that won him Saturday\u2019s race and Feeney maintained track position, and the lead.<\/p>\n

The order stayed the same until the second round of pit tops, for those on a conventional strategy. Mostert made the first move and a lap later Feeney followed, but like team-mate Will Brown<\/a>, his left-rear wheel change was a little sticky and when he resumed, Mostert was ahead.<\/p>\n

At the other end of the top 15, WAU\u2019s Ryan Wood<\/a> and Dick Johnson Racing<\/a>\u2019s Brodie Kostecki<\/a> pitted early to try to find clean air, both working hard and both experiencing cool suit failures.<\/p>\n

But by the end of the race they had not made enough ground \u2013 or any, really \u2013 and they, and the driver they were chasing, Team 18<\/a>\u2019s Anton De Pasquale<\/a>, were the Finalists eliminated.<\/p>\n

De Pasquale triggered the race\u2019s only Safety Car when he clattered into James Courtney<\/a>. He was penalised 15 seconds over the clash and that dropped him from ninth to 16th,\u00a0and out of the Finals<\/p>\n

In spite of Kostecki\u2019s elimination it was a brave effort from the DJR crew, after an all-night rebuild of a Mustang that was basically destroyed forward of the windscreen.<\/p>\n

The Supercars Championship will resume in three weeks\u2019 time with the second \u2018Semi Final\u2019 round, at the Sandown Park circuit in Melbourne, on 14-16 November.<\/p>\n
