Despite a dominant victory over England<\/a>, the Kangaroos didn’t leave the match without a few bruises and scars.<\/p>\n

Angus Crichton<\/a> accused England<\/a> of targeting the Kangaroos with brutal physicality during Australia’s fiery 26\u20136 win in the Ashes opener at Wembley.<\/p>\n

The two-try back-rower said England<\/a> came out \u201ctrying to kill and bash us\u201d in a heated contest that has set the tone for a fiery series ahead of next weekend’s second Test in Liverpool.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey came with their trademark physicality and were trying to take our heads off early,\u201d Crichton told the Daily Telegraph.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Poms, backs against the wall, flying off the line, just trying to bash you, I think.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of tough men in their team and they obviously were trying to kill us tonight, and I’m sure there’ll be more of that in the next two games.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crichton, who crossed for two second half tries, including a powerful 25-metre surge, said he even came away from the match with a few battle scars.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I took the second carry of the game and had a cut on my head and a cut on my finger,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom them trying to kill us, it’s all good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the bruising encounter, the Kangaroos weathered England’s early aggression to lead 8\u20130 at halftime before pulling away through tries to Reece Walsh<\/a> and Crichton.<\/p>\n

Still, Crichton admitted Australia<\/a> were below their best, calling the performance \u201csloppy\u201d despite the comfortable scoreline.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had 78 per cent completion in the first half, which isn’t good enough for Test footy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere’s no excuse, we have to be better.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it was good fun and a good first Test for us as a group, and we’ll grow off the back of this.\u201d
