It\u2019s game, set and match for WA tennis power couple Bruce and Margaret Robinson after almost 50 years at their City Beach family home.<\/p>\n

Mr and Mrs Robinson have listed their four-bedroom, three-bathroom house which sits on a 971sqm block at the highest point of the seaside suburb.<\/p>\n

The pair have long had a view from the top \u2014 both in their sporting life and their home life.<\/p>\n

Set three metres higher than any other landholding in the suburb and 45m above the ocean, their property has panoramic views from Garden Island to Scarborough..<\/p>\n

The lofty height means the uninterrupted ocean views from every room on the second floor are all but assured of being permanent.<\/p>\n

It is not all that surprising for a pair who have shown a consistent approach to excellence. Mr Robinson joined the world\u2019s tennis greats when he competed at Wimbledon and the French Open in the 1950s.<\/p>\n

Mrs Robinson reached her peak at age 81, when she achieved the world No.1 ranking in senior singles tennis after several world title wins.<\/p>\n

And amid these achievements \u2014 which included opening Perth\u2019s biggest tennis-coaching school \u2014 the City Beach home has been a mainstay<\/p>\n

The home doesn\u2019t have a tennis court, but it does have a big swimming pool and a mini golf course, as well as a family and games rooms and a formal lounge and bar.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s oldest son Mark said his father surprised their mother and his five sons by buying the home at an auction in 1976.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s played host to countless birthdays, engagement parties and even weddings over the years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith five sons and 10 grandkids there\u2019s also been plenty of highly competitive putt-putt comps on the mini-golf course, swimming races in the pool and backyard cricket tests under the pergola.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been the ultimate family house and one that all our friends loved coming to.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their neighbours have included Jeans West founder Alister Norwood and fashion icon Liz Davenport, who both lived at the distinctive Iwan Ivanoff-built Tomic House next door.<\/p>\n
