Brisbane Broncos<\/a> captain Adam Reynolds and his wife Tallara Reynolds are being widely praised for their courage after the NRL star opened up about her past drug addiction for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of the release of his upcoming autobiography, Reynolds revealed how Tallara\u2019s struggle nearly ended their marriage, and how Wayne Bennett played a crucial role in saving it.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old halfback had previously spoken about Bennett\u2019s influence on his personal life during his time at South Sydney Rabbitohs<\/a>, but his new book On My Own Terms shares the full story for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Reynolds details how Tallara\u2019s substance abuse almost tore their family apart before she made a remarkable recovery.<\/p>\n

Tallara, who has since overcome her addiction, supported Reynolds\u2019 decision to tell their story publicly, hoping it can inspire and help others.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> on Sunday, Reynolds said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one thing to battle addiction, but it\u2019s another to share your story with everyone else \u2013 I couldn\u2019t be prouder of Tallara. It was an extremely brave thing to do. I won\u2019t lie, with the book about to come out, she\u2019s been a bit nervous about what the reaction will be.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are always going to judge. But by being so honest, Tallara knows she can help other people, other mothers, who might be in a similar situation, and remind them they are not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reynolds also revealed that he and Tallara were open with their children about what had happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe decided to tell the girls when we sat down to write the book about 12 months ago. They read the book this past week,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were too young at the time when Tallara was struggling, so there were no flashbacks for them. If anything, they felt sorry for Tallara because they never wanted their mum to feel that way.\u201d<\/p>\n

The veteran playmaker also spoke about the difficult period in their relationship, crediting Bennett for guiding them through.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a tough time for us. I had no idea about the drugs, and was angry at first. Wayne played a big role in saving our marriage. I wrote about what he did to help us in the book, but there will be a lot of conversations at that time I will keep private.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll forever be grateful to Wayne for helping Tallara and I. Our marriage could not be any better. Tallara is doing so well. Like I said, I\u2019m really proud of her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The revelations have sparked an outpouring of support from NRL fans and media figures alike, with many commending the couple for their honesty and bravery. Sydney Morning Herald and Channel 9 journalist Danny Weidler wrote on X:<\/p>\n
