Last week, the story that got the most eyeballs<\/a> was UFC Middleweight Reinier de Ridder\u2019s coach releasing a statement<\/a> about ultimately deciding to stop the fight \u2014 \u201cI take full responsibility for that decision, and it was the right call to make for me in the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two UFC employees shit all over the main and co-main event this past week. Din Thomas said Mackenzie Dern vs. Virna Jandiroba was the \u201cmost insignificant\u201d fight in recent memory, and Daniel Cormier basically, in so many words, said the Heavyweight division is trash \u2014 well, he was caught on camera.<\/p>\n

Top Heavyweight contender Alexander Volkov revealed that he was ready to show off his wrestling and grappling<\/a> against Jailton Almeida \u2026 well, he got held down for 11 minutes of the fight.<\/p>\n

Random \u2018Stat of the Week\u2019<\/p>\n

Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane was only the second UFC championship fight to end in a no-contest<\/a> (Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 was the first<\/a>) \u2014 However, it was the first to be ruled as such inside the Octagon.<\/p>\n

Fight Announcement of the Week:<\/p>\n

The final ESPN+ UFC PPV \u2014 UFC 323<\/a> got a couple of new fights announced this week, with the most notable being Jalin Turner coming out of retirement<\/a> to fight Edson Barboza.<\/p>\n

This Past Week in MMA History:<\/p>\n

Anderson Silva rematched Rich Franklin at UFC 77 and stopped him again with more knees.<\/p>\n

Speaking of running it back, Islam Makhachev knocked out Alexander Volkanovski in their highly anticipated rematch.<\/p>\n

UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Till – Oct. 21, 2017<\/p>\n

Remember when Cowboy Cerrone randomly fought an unknown Darren Till in Poland?
Well, he got knocked out.<\/p>\n

Islam Makhachev won the UFC Lightweight championship at UFC 280 by making easy work of Charles Oliveira.<\/p>\n

Cain Velasquez became the Heavyweight champion by stopping Brock Lesnar in the first round.<\/p>\n

It has been five years since Khabib Nurmagomedov walked away from the sport because of a promise he made to his mother.<\/p>\n
