{"id":243491,"date":"2025-10-27T05:45:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T05:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/243491\/"},"modified":"2025-10-27T05:45:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T05:45:08","slug":"michelin-pecco-saw-the-warning-light-after-malaysian-motogp-puncture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/243491\/","title":{"rendered":"Michelin: \u201cPecco saw the warning light\u201d after Malaysian MotoGP puncture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michelin\u2019s Piero Taramasso has revealed that a dashboard warning helped alert <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1085490\/1\/michelin-confirms-cause-pecco-bagnaias-malaysian-motogp-retirement\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Francesco Bagnaia to a slow puncture<\/a> in Sunday\u2019s Malaysian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The pole qualifier and Sprint winner was holding second place behind Alex Marquez when he appears to have run over some carbon fibre debris, cutting his rear tyre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPecco felt something strange in the handling of the bike and then in the [next] lap he saw the warning light on the dashboard was saying low rear pressure,\u201d Taramasso said.<\/p>\n<p>Bagnaia tried to adapt his riding style and continued for several laps, but with grip worsening, he pitted on lap 18 of 20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he came into the box and we checked the pressure, it was 0.74 at the rear. This is for sure a piece of carbon because it was quite large and a very sharp cut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very rare, we don\u2019t see this very often.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just bad luck and I\u2019m sorry for Pecco because he managed the tyre well and at the end, for sure, he was able to push more compared to other riders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/podium-plus-bagnaia_0.png\"   type=\"image\/png\" alt=\"2025 Malaysian MotoGP lap times: Podium plus Bagnaia\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.79\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>2025 Malaysian MotoGP lap times: Podium plus Bagnaia<\/p>\n<p>Bagnaia\u2019s lap times began to slow after lap 11 and the factory Ducati rider said he first felt something was wrong by lap 13, when he was overtaken by Pedro Acosta.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was strange, because I was controlling a lot the tyres from the start, just in the race like I did in Barcelona last year, in 2024, when I let others go and arrived in the last moment of the race,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just trying to do the same, but then Pedro overtook me, I started to struggle a lot more.
