(ABC News: Nabil Al-Nashar)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Bimwal&#8217;s Kirpan had triggered the device, and he was asked to remove it, place it in a box and was promised it would be given back to him after the show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He said it felt &#8220;very disrespectful and hurtful&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;This is not a knife that I&#8217;ve picked up from my kitchen, and I&#8217;ve decided to break the law. It&#8217;s an article of faith.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kirpans not allowed in NSW venues\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">NSW Police said venue security asked officers to speak to a concertgoer who &#8220;refused to cloak a Kirpan&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The police statement said &#8220;no offences were identified&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Officers spoke with the male patron who declined to cloak the Kirpan. He was then directed from the stadium and left without incident,&#8221; it read.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A spokesperson for Venues NSW, which owns and operates Parramatta Stadium says Kirpans are not permitted inside its venues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We offer a secure, respectful and free cloaking service. (Supplied: Wikimedia)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Venues NSW said it acknowledged Kirpans as an important article of faith to the Sikh community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">It said five people opted to use the &#8220;cloaking service&#8221; and the venue promised to refund the tickets of one patron who refused to remove his Kirpan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Under NSW law, carrying a knife in public is illegal with a few exceptions, including for &#8220;genuine religious purposes&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Nobody offered us a refund. Nobody has even communicated with us from the venue,&#8221; Ms Bimwal said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">She also said the couple had no interaction with police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We waited for someone to come talk to us until 8 o&#8217;clock and then we decided to leave of our own accord,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We won&#8217;t be compromising our faith&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Ms Bimwal said this was the first time she had been refused entry somewhere on account of her husband&#8217;s Kirpan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We have gone to several public places, footy games, we work at schools \u2026 and there&#8217;s never been an issue,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;The fact that we&#8217;ve been stopped seems hurtful because this is a concert where the artist is of the Sikh faith and for this to have happened is heartbreaking.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The couple decided in the end to miss the concert and go home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;If I&#8217;m not allowed in with the article of faith, we won&#8217;t be entering or compromising our faith \u2026 we&#8217;d rather lose the money because it takes effort to follow what you believe in,&#8221; Mr Bimwal added.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Paravinder Singh and his friend Manmohen Singh wearing white shirt in line at concert\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/fa227018006615039381dea936d909ac\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Manmohan Singh (left) and Harman Singh said it was not made clear they could not bring their Kirpans to the venue.\u00a0 (ABC News: Nabil Al-Nashar)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Harman Singh and his friend Manmohan Singh faced the same issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;In our Sikh culture, we cannot remove it [the Kirpan] from the body,&#8221; Manmohen Singh, 19, said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;It&#8217;s not fair. Diljit is also from the Sikh community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Paravinder Singh said it was not made clear when they were purchasing the tickets that they would not be able to enter with their Kirpans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;They should&#8217;ve mentioned it before we bought the tickets.
