\n\tThe Jonas Brothers<\/a> rose to fame as teenagers, and many people were fascinated with the band\u2019s decision to wear purity rings. In light of their accessories, Nick and Joe Jonas<\/a> admitted that they were asked uncomfortable questions about their sex lives and religion when they were teenagers.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile appearing on Thursday\u2019s episode of Penn Badgley\u2019s Podcrushed podcast<\/a>, Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas<\/a> revealed they were commonly asked questions about their plans to wait for marriage to get physically intimate with a partner during the early years of their career.<\/p>\n

\n\tJoe claimed that some journalists would threaten to write that they were in a \u201ccult\u201d if they didn\u2019t discuss their stance on the topics, which led Badgley to note that some reporters were essentially \u201casking a 10-year-old about their sex life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter noting that he was older than 10 when he was first asked about his sex life, Nick said that the industry has come \u201cfar\u201d in the way people have conversations about the topic. \u201cI think it\u2019s really a good thing,\u201d he said, adding that it wasn\u2019t \u201cso outside of the realm of possibilities\u201d for someone to ask \u201ca 14-year-old about their sex life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJoe claimed that the questions came up in \u201cevery interview,\u201d which prompted Nick to point out that there was a larger problem at hand. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t just us. It was a whole class of young people coming up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen he was around 15, Joe said he felt pressured to answer questions about the purity rings during interviews. Other questions they found inappropriate were about religion, and he claimed he was asked if he believed in God.<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier in the conversation, the DNCE frontman explained that purity rings were popular \u201cin the community of [their] church\u201d and that \u201ceverybody else\u201d around 10 and 11 years old wore them. Joe then noted that they wore the rings to symbolize their decision to \u201cwait for the right person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJoe said that the uncomfortable questions were always asked on the record, which made them feel pressured to answer them. \u201cI can definitely speak for all three of us here. I felt the pressure of being like, \u2018Well, we have to live these lives because we kind of said it in the paper once.\u2019 It\u2019s in print, so you gotta do it. It\u2019s forever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cObviously, it\u2019d be scary and freak us out until we got to a point where it\u2019s like, \u2018Fuck this,’\u201d Joe continued. \u201cBecause we were like, \u2018We can figure out who we are on our own terms.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJoe added that it wasn\u2019t until the band temporarily broke up in 2013 that they felt they could make their own decisions as individuals.
