Villa secured a third successive home win over Pep Guardiola’s side when Matty Cash produced a neat finish to score the only goal of the game.

However, Silva contested the circumstances which led to Cash’s goal, claiming that Matheus Nunes was fouled by Lucas Digne and that his team should have been awarded a free kick, instead of a corner to Villa.

The hosts scored from the resultant set-play and midfielder Silva was not happy, urging the official to apologise and ‘don’t be arrogant’.

“[It] Should have been a foul. It wasn’t and it was a corner they scored from it,” he said.

“The only thing that we were saying from the referee was that to accept the mistake

“Just accept that you made a mistake, say sorry, we go into the next one.

“Don’t be stubborn to believe that it was not a mistake, and he actually thought that it was not a mistake.

“People make mistakes. We make mistakes, they make mistakes. Just say sorry and we go to the next one.

“Don’t be arrogant and pretend that you didn’t see what happened and just accept the mistake and we get on with things.”

Do you agree with Silva’s comments?
