The Dodgers travel with two planes, one with the players and one with coaches, staff and families. While the players’ plane went across the border to the United States with ease, the second place \u2014 the one Roberts was on \u2014\u00a0had some trouble getting across.<\/p>\n
When Roberts spoke to the media, he had just finished a brutal day of travel. Suffice to say, he was a little frustrated.<\/p>\n
Thus, when asked about his travel experience, he made some comments that ended up going viral.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to get too far into it,\u201d Roberts said<\/a>. \u201cI just arrived about 30 minutes ago. So there was some delays. I don\u2019t know if there was intent or not. But, man, the international stuff was a bear. But we made it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The “intent” line ended up going viral as it appeared he was hinting at people in Canada having something to do with his flight troubles back to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Roberts was later asked about the comments, and told The Athletic<\/a> that he \u201ccould have omitted \u2018intent,\u2019\u201d when talking about the travel.<\/p>\n \u201cI know the Prime Minister is not worried about calling airline security or the FAA to make sure that they delay us,\u201d Roberts said<\/a>. \u201cI know that. Obviously. I think the Prime Minister has bigger fish to fry.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cThe process was very long. But a lot of it had to do with our big, huge, four-plane travel party. It\u2019s just a part of international travel. And passports. Airline security. If LA wins all three, they won’t have to travel back to Toronto for a Game 5. Whether or not they have to travel back, Roberts wanted to clarify his comments once and for all.<\/p>\n \u201cCanada is not trying to sabotage the Dodgers,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cI know that.
