Reports have emerged that Indian vice-captain Shreyas Iyer was rushed to a Sydney hospital following Saturday\u2019s ODI clash with Australia at the SCG<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Iyer took an incredible running catch to dismiss Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey during the match, but as he hit the deck the 30-year-old suffered severe internal injuries, including a ruptured spleen.<\/p>\n

According to The Times of India<\/a>, \u201cIyer had dangerously low body vitals after the fall and was rushed to the hospital in the situation which was life threatening at that moment\u201d.<\/p>\n

The incident seemingly happened when Iyer\u2019s elbow banged into his ribcage.<\/p>\n

He was visibly in distress when he was escorted from the field with the help of Indian team medicos.<\/p>\n

He returned to the rooms and one report suggested that he fainted before he was \u201crushed to hospital\u201d. It was later confirmed that he had ruptured his spleen.<\/p>\n

\u201cShreyas lyer sustained an impact injury to his left lower rib cage region while fielding during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on 25th October 2025. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation,\u201d BCCI said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cScans have revealed a laceration injury to the spleen. He is under treatment, medically stable, recovering well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BCCI Medical Team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, is closely monitoring his injury status. The Indian Team Doctor will remain in Sydney with Shreyas to evaluate his day-to-day progress.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to reports, Iyer could remain in hospital for another seven days.<\/p>\n

India next face Australia in a five-match Twenty20 series beginning in Canberra on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Iyer is not in the T20 squad.<\/p>\n
