{"id":245624,"date":"2025-10-28T05:11:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T05:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/245624\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T05:11:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T05:11:13","slug":"all-abilities-tennis-week-launched-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/245624\/","title":{"rendered":"All abilities tennis week launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Caroline Springs and Tullamarine tennis clubs participated in an inaugural all abilities week which gave players with disability an opportunity to partake in modified versions of the sport.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, which ran nationwide from 20-26 October, expanded opportunities for players through modified versions of the game including wheelchair tennis, blind and low vision tennis, intellectual disability and autism tennis, deaf and hard of hearing tennis and para-standing tennis, according to Tennis Australia.<\/p>\n<p>iTennis coaching academy head coach and director Chris Singh said instructors and support workers are able to adapt activities to suit players\u2019 needs and abilities during sessions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe went through a range of activities, a few games and then [players] got to chill and eat and drink later. It\u2019s just getting them out there and getting them active,\u201d Mr Singh said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal out of there is just to try to give them a bit more of a pathway where they can do it weekly or fortnightly\u2026to have this as a recurring program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Singh said the session at Caroline Springs, catered towards adults, aimed to fill a gap in all abilities programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of stuff for kids but not as much for adults.
