{"id":245671,"date":"2025-10-28T05:46:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T05:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/245671\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T05:46:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T05:46:13","slug":"nrl-stands-down-south-sydney-rabbitohs-winger-tyrone-munro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/245671\/","title":{"rendered":"NRL stands down South Sydney Rabbitohs winger Tyrone Munro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">South Sydney&#8217;s Tyrone Munro faces being sidelined for at least the start of next season, after being stood down by the NRL while facing domestic violence charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Munro is due to face Burwood Local Court on Thursday, after being charged earlier this month with a number of offences relating to an alleged incident in April.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The 20-year-old&#8217;s lawyer has indicated he plans to fight the charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The NRL said on Tuesday that Mr Munro would be sidelined under the game&#8217;s no-fault stand-down policy, as part of head office&#8217;s discretionary powers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">It means the winger will not be able to play in the NRL or any of its competitions until at least the court case has concluded.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iview.abc.net.au\/show\/end-game-with-tony-armstrong\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stream End Game with Tony Armstrong on ABC iview<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Tony Armstrong will tackle Australia&#8217;s overdue reckoning with racism in sport, with the help of some of its biggest sports stars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;The decision should in no way be interpreted as a view on the innocence or guilt of the player,&#8221;
