That commitment seemed to spur the team at large, and it went on to win the American League East division and earn a World Series berth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Now, no matter how their ongoing battle with the Los Angeles Dodgers turns out, the Blue Jays seem ready to commit to another major contract as they look to build a perennial contender around Guerrero. (Photo by Mark Blinch\/Getty Images)\" credit=\"\" sourcealt=\"\" sources=\"[]\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3619\" height=\"2412\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;aspect-ratio:inherit;object-fit:cover\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Ross-Atkins.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">\u201cThe Blue Jays are another team that could play for No. 1 free agent Kyle Tucker,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/27\/sports\/blue-jays-join-the-mix-to-make-a-move-for-kyle-tucker\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Post\u2019s Major League Baseball insider Jon Heyman<\/a>. \u201cThey played for the biggest free agents \u2014 Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto \u2014 and Jays sources say they still would have signed Vlad Guerrero Jr. even if they\u2019d gotten Ohtani or Soto.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The Blue Jays were final contenders for Ohtani, who instead signed a $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and for Soto, who instead signed a $765 million deal with the New York Mets. So, finding room for the roughly $400 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/mlb\/player\/market-value\/_\/id\/17620\/kyle-tucker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that\u2019s projected in Tucker\u2019s next contract<\/a> shouldn\u2019t be much of a problem if the Blue Jays feel he\u2019s worth it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The Blue Jays could also see some significant payroll come off the books this winter.
