Singer Raye has said her songbooks stolen last year when her car was broken into, meaning her album two plans had to be put on hold, have been found.<\/p>\n
The star had been working on the follow-up to her multi-Brit Award-winning debut My 21st Century Blues.<\/p>\n
In an Instagram post last year, she revealed the vehicle containing the books had been robbed<\/a> – on her birthday, no less – meaning there would be “no second album any time soon”.<\/p>\n But this week she revealed the car had actually been found several months later, along with the “untouched” material, which she described as a “rollercoaster journey” to have been on, emotionally.<\/p>\n She first shared the news of the car theft online along with a picture of a birthday cake with the the words “sorry ur car got stolen” written on it.<\/p>\n In an update given to Capital Radio<\/a> breakfast show host Will Manning, she explained: “So it was a rollercoaster journey, but what I didn’t tell everyone is that the police called me, maybe like two, three months ago, and they were like, ‘we found your car’.<\/p>\n “And I got it back, and not only did I get it back, not one thing had been taken out of the car and all my songwriting books were there untouched.”<\/p>\n The rediscovered material is likely to feature on her upcoming, as-yet unnamed follow-up record, which was announced last month along with a tour next year.<\/p>\n Raye previously told the same station that the album was “not even remotely done” despite already being available for pre-order.<\/p>\n She compared it to completing your school homework at the last minute. “With music I want it to be incredible, and I want it to be the best thing it can be,” she continued.<\/p>\n Raye performed during a recent NFL International match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium<\/p>\n Earlier this month the singer released a new pop-funk track called Where Is My Husband?, which she performed during her recent half-time performance at an NFL match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.<\/p>\n Speaking to the BBC’s Mark Savage last month<\/a>, she explained she had a five-year plan to put out new music and then start a family.<\/p>\n “I’ll put out an album in first half of next year – although I need to finish it first – then I’ll tour with my sisters,” she said of her fellow singing siblings.<\/p>\n “Ideally, around that time, it would be nice to meet my husband. So like, maybe 2027? Then we get married and have a baby.”<\/p>\n She added: “And I want to do enough groundwork in the next two years that I can take a year off and my career’s not gone down the toilet.”<\/p>\n Raye is perhaps best known for her single Escapism, the break-out hit from her debut album.<\/p>\n She has also appeared on a string of other top 10 hits, such as Bed (a collaboration with Joel Corry and David Guetta), Prada (with Cass\u00f6 and D-Block Europe) and Secrets (with Regard).<\/p>\n Her music contains a mix of pop, R&B, soul, jazz, dance, and hip-hop, as anyone watching her dazzling Glastonbury performance in the summer will have seen.<\/p>\n![\"PA](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/e3187610-b3e1-11f0-a1d0-d5a6c9e4c42e.jpg.webp.webp\")
