NEW ORLEANS \u2013 The New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball team will play an exhibition on Wednesday at Lakefront Arena when they take on the LSU-Eunice Bengals at Lakefront Arena. Tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\nHead Coach Trelanne Powell<\/a> enters her third season at the helm with a mix of returners and newcomers. On the 15-player roster there are eight newcomers and seven returners coming into the 2025-26 season.
\n\u00a0
\nJayla Kimbrough<\/a> is the leading returner in her final year with the program. The redshirt senior has averaged double figures in points in each of the last two seasons after she averaged 10.0 points per game in 2024-25. Kimbrough notched a season-high 23 points last year against HCU and has scored 607 points in a Privateer uniform over 71 games.

\nThe Privateers are replacing four of their top six scorers from last season who departed either via graduation or the transfer portal. Brialle Washington<\/a> is the second leading returning scorer after she averaged 6.2 points in her first season on the Lakefront. Washington scored in double figures in six games last year.

\nOf the eight newcomers, the Privateers brought in three players who stand at six feet or taller: Hailee Brennen<\/a> joins the team from a previous stint at Charleston Southern. Logan Johnson<\/a> and Trinity Bane<\/a> are both junior college transfers.

\nAlso among the newcomers is Lauren Banks<\/a> who had a strong season at another New Orleans area school. Banks was Second Team All-Conference at Xavier (La.) where she averaged 12.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game with the Gold Nuggets.

\nThe Privateers will be playing LSU-Eunice for the first time in program history. After the exhibition contest, New Orleans will go on the road to begin the regular season with a road trip to Oklahoma State (Nov. 3) and Tulsa (Nov. 5).

\nABOUT THE OPPONENT
\nLSUE is under the direction of Rob Beckmann who guided the Bengals to a 20-11 record in 2024-25. After the Wednesday exhibition, the Bengals will open their regular season on Saturday against Wiley.

\nThe Bengals return the Louisiana Community College Athletics Conference Player of the Year in Kamiera McDonald. The Baton Rouge native averaged 15.3 points per game last season.
