The Aston Martin F1 squad has confirmed the driver who will carry out reserve driver duties in 2026.<\/p>\n
The role will be carried out by Jak Crawford, who made his F1 weekend debut in Mexico City last weekend through an FP1 appearance.<\/p>\n
Crawford, a former Red Bull F1 junior, became a member of the Aston Martin programme in 2024 and has since taken part in various tests with the team.<\/p>\n
The American will be on hand to step in for Fernando Alonso or Lance Stroll next year, should one of the team’s full-time drivers be unable to race.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m incredibly proud to be confirmed as the third driver\u00a0for 2026,\u201d Crawford said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a huge moment in my journey with Aston Martin and a big motivation to keep learning and contributing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the past two seasons, I\u2019ve learned so much from being in the F1 environment, both at the factory and trackside.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll be doing everything I can to support the team and continue developing as a driver.\u201d<\/p>\n
Crawford has replaced Felipe Drugovich in the position, who has made a full-time switch to Formula E.<\/p>\n
