UFC Stars Known to be NFL Fans: Stipe Miocic Goes to the Dawg Pound

We start our look at UFC stars known to be NFL fans on the shores of Lake Erie and in the AFC North. While the Cleveland Browns have had a myriad of troubles on the field this season, with some calling for head coach Kevin Stefanski to lose his job in the wake of a 2-6 start to the year, the fandom still runs strong.

One of their high-profile supporters is none other than former UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic. Given that Miocic is from the Cleveland area and works as a firefighter and paramedic, it’s not a shock that he bleeds orange and brown.

In the aftermath of his retirement from competition late last year upon losing to Jon Jones at UFC 309 in New York City, Miocic was invited to Cleveland Browns Stadium to serve as an honorary captain for the Browns’ game versus the Kansas City Chiefs, wrecking a prop guitar with Kansas City’s logo on it prior to kickoff.

He’s kept himself busy since retiring from MMA, as Miocic was spotted at Browns training camp in nearby Berea working as a photographer for the club. While the Browns may not be winning a Super Bowl anytime soon, one of the UFC stars known to be NFL fans will forever be known to Clevelanders as a champ.

UFC Stars Known to Be NFL Fans: DC Backs the Saints

Let’s go to the NFC South for our next entry in the list of UFC stars known to be NFL fans. Even though we’re switching divisions for this entry, we’ll be staying in the heavyweight ranks.

Since retiring from competition in 2020, Daniel Cormier has stayed in MMA, serving as a broadcaster on many UFC events, including flagship numbered shows. When it comes to the NFL, the former linebacker who had offers from LSU to join the Tigers’ football program before turning to wrestling is a devoted member of Who Dat Nation.

During UFC 318 fight week in New Orleans this past summer, DC paid a visit to the Saints training facility and was taken aback by the team’s alternate white helmets.

UFC Stars Known to be NFL Fans: Jorge Masvidal Joins Bills Mafia

Though he’s switched his combative discipline to the sweet science of boxing, longtime UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal loves a good football game. After years of being an also-ran in the NFL, including a stretch of four straight defeats in the Super Bowl, the Buffalo Bills are now thriving in the AFC East with a record of 5-2 after seven games.

Masvidal was a guest of the Bills organization for an episode of the You Herd video series posted on the team’s website, where he and Buffalo left tackle Dion Dawkins discussed Masvidal joining Bills Mafia.

“I came and met Jorge and Jorge was on his fight,” Dawkins began. “Jorge was doing his fight for [the] UFC and it was in Miami. I was with you most of your camp. I cut weight with him, and then he had his fight. We’ve just been locked in. When good people meet each other, you kind of just stick with it.”

UFC Stars Known to Be NFL Fans: “Suga” Roots for Cards

For the last entry of UFC stars known to be NFL fans, we trek to the NFC West and the desert of Arizona where the Cardinals call home. While the Cards are at the bottom of the NFC West at 2-5 after seven games, they’ve got a fan at the top of the bantamweight ranks.

Enter No. 1 contender Sean O’Malley. Most recently, O’Malley made the walk to the fabled Octagon in June of 2025, where he failed in his bid to become the head of the class at 135 during UFC 316 by way of north south choke in a rematch for the belt against Merab Dvalishvili.

Initially, Sean O’Malley backed the Denver Broncos when it came to the gridiron, but switched his alliance to the Cardinals organization upon moving to Arizona. Just before the 2024 NFL season, O’Malley paid a visit to the Cards’ practice facility to gift an autographed belt to Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.

Final Thoughts in the Locker Room

The game’s over and the home team won in a blowout. We could go into the final stats for this one but the game was over as a contest by midway through the second quarter.

Gameday has come to a close and the grounds crew now has the task of preparing the playing surface for next week’s outing for the team. It’s been a successful day at the office for this beloved franchise, so as the flood lights are going to come on to help the stadium staff with clean-up after this banner day on the scoreboard, we hope you enjoyed this look at UFC stars known to be NFL fans.
