EDISTO BEACH, S.C. \u2013 Longwood women’s golf saved the best for last to climb up into the top five in the team’s final round of the fall today.

\nThe Lancers moved up five spots into fourth at the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted at The Plantation Course at Edisto.
\n\u00a0
\nAbigail Sheldon<\/a> ripped off the team’s low round of the tournament, and three Lancers finished in the top 25.
\n\u00a0
\nNOTABLE RESULTS:
\n\u00a0
\nThe Lancers knocked 14 strokes off their second round and the 289 was the fourth-best team score of the day. That helped Longwood from ninth to fourth for the team’s fourth top five finish of the fall.
\n\u00a0
\nSheldon roared up the standings with a bogey-free 68 that was one of the best rounds on the day. She had a trio of birdies to climb 22 spots into a tie for 25th in the 77-player field. She finished with a three-round tally of 81-79-68\u2014228 (+15).
\n\u00a0
\nAvery Nordman<\/a> was the top finisher on the team for the tournament, tying for 14th after three consistent rounds. The freshman battled her way to a 75-74-75\u2014224 (+11). She closed well, making eight straight pars to end the tournament.
\n\u00a0
\nChiara Wippert<\/a> was the third member to finish in the top 25, and the sophomore improved over each of her three rounds. She posted a two-over 73 in the final round to move up two spots into sole possession of 20th, and she finished with a three-round score of 78-75-73\u2014226 (+13).
\n\u00a0
\nMadison Lehr<\/a> also had her final round of the fall serve as her best round, finishing with a 73 on the day. She climbed six spots into a tie for 38th with a three-round tally of 82-77-73\u2014232 (+19).

\nCaroline Tragesser<\/a> finished tied for 48th with an 82-77-78\u2014237 (+24).

\n“We had a great round today!” said Longwood Head Coach Megan Weaver<\/a>. “Moving up from ninth to fourth with the teams in the field was unbelievable. Abigail led the team with an amazing bogey-free 68. As a team, the success came from keeping the ball in play and committing confidently to putts. We really ended the fall season on a high note!”
