(Yamaha Motor Racing Srl)Source: Supplied

Miller’s entire pre-2025 career was spent riding V4s for Honda, Ducati and KTM, and his work testing parts for Ducati when riding with Pramac from 2018-20 played a significant role in his promotion to Ducati’s factory team for 2021-22, seasons where teammate Francesco Bagnaia finished as runner-up and champion respectively on a bike Miller’s fingerprints were all over.

While his results on track at KTM tapered off, his work on the bike’s electronics was lauded internally. For Yamaha’s four-rider line-up for 2026, and with Rins still nowhere near 100 per cent fit and Razgatlioglu coming in as a Superbikes champion in his late 20s with no experience of MotoGP machinery or Michelin tyres, Miller’s specific set of positive traits made his retention, in the end, a no-brainer despite his results curve heading downwards.

It’s a career life raft that will only float for so long, though.

Miller’s experience – he became the first Australian rider in the world championship’s history to reach 250 starts across all categories at Phillip Island, and will finish 2025 on 198 premier-class Grands Prix, top 10 all-time – is invaluable.

But the results need an uptick, and he knows it.

Speaking in the recent Phillip Island pre-race press conference while flanked by a rookie in Aldeguer and a sophomore in Acosta, he’s not eyeing a MotoGP finish line just yet.

“It’s awesome to reach that number, and with 2026 and beyond … my plans don’t end in 2026,” he said of his 250th milestone.

“I feel like I’ve still got a lot more to give, and I feel like the best is yet to come. We’ll keep plugging away at it [with Yamaha], keep trying to find our way back to the front end.

“We’ve got a couple of young Spanish sitting up here, and some old Australian …”.

It was a pair of first-time MotoGP wins within a fortnight that showed why MotoGP has never been…

[572
146925,2620,8454,2095,1724,64,14017,63,689,146912,13844,146924,43366,36339,146908,146926,586,146918,11301,16267,2057,16230,146915,12370,676,13038,146922,7607,5717,2105,64558,146927,16200,4805,146921,3555,16183,9398,146929,20874,5744,41544,16201,9399,146917,935,4280,101322,16268,3557,146931,146916,142956,806,805,803,804,2041,2067,677,146928,10734,18501,2119,49595,146935,141867,14224,7722,146913,146923,146934,146914,101335,122761,13147,146930,146909,37214,136773,146910,931,146911,24571,2812,3595,2020,85,16276,146933,146932,28458,3370,3725,146919,146907,23899,2614,101345,2062,146920,2086,37215
post-247398","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-motosport","tag-a-marquez","tag-agence-france-presse","tag-alex-marquez","tag-america","tag-asia","tag-au","tag-austin","tag-australia","tag-australia-and-new-zealand","tag-australian-rider","tag-brad-binder","tag-career-life-raft","tag-championship-position","tag-championship-standings","tag-crash-stats","tag-crash-stats-show","tag-czech-republic","tag-dwindling-points-tally","tag-eastern-europe","tag-engine-project","tag-europe","tag-fabio-quartararo","tag-factory-teammate","tag-fermin-aldeguer","tag-final-round","tag-finish-line","tag-four-rider-line-up","tag-francesco-bagnaia","tag-germany","tag-getty-images-inc","tag-gino-borsoi","tag-grim-picture","tag-honda-motor-company","tag-indonesia","tag-inline-four-engine","tag-jack-miller","tag-japanese-brand","tag-joan-mir","tag-job-requirement","tag-jorge-lorenzo","tag-jorge-martin","tag-liberty-media-corporation","tag-ltd","tag-luca-marini","tag-m-marquez","tag-malaysia","tag-marc-marquez","tag-massimo-rivola","tag-matt-clayton","tag-miguel-oliveira","tag-miller-seasons","tag-miller-sits","tag-millers-inc","tag-motor","tag-motor-sports","tag-motosport","tag-motosports","tag-north-america","tag-northern-america","tag-oceania","tag-ogura","tag-pedro-acosta","tag-performance-clause","tag-pit-talk","tag-podium-drought","tag-podium-finishers","tag-podium-places","tag-points-scored","tag-portugal","tag-positive-traits","tag-powerhouse-factory","tag-pre-race-press-conference","tag-premier-class-season","tag-province-of-valencia","tag-race-report","tag-raul-fernandez","tag-regulation-reset","tag-results-curve","tag-rider-market","tag-right-shoulder-surgery","tag-runner-up-season","tag-san-marino","tag-second-youngest-premier-class-winner","tag-silver-lining","tag-south-eastern-asia","tag-southern-europe","tag-spain","tag-sports","tag-sprint-races","tag-surgery-recoveries","tag-team-director","tag-team-player","tag-texas","tag-thailand","tag-the-silver-lining","tag-top-five-result","tag-toprak-razgatlioglu","tag-united-states-of-america","tag-valencia","tag-western-europe","tag-work-testing-parts","tag-world-championship","tag-yamaha-motor-company-inc
["GET
