The road season has come to an end, so the peloton is already looking ahead to 2026. Lidl-Trek<\/a> has made an essential move in this regard. The German-American team announced that Lidl now holds a stake of more than 50%, with the German company aiming to take a new step towards becoming the best cycling team in the world.\u201cSuccessful conclusion of contract: Lidl acquires majority stake in Lidl-Trek with the aim of becoming the number one road cycling team,\u201d the team opens in its statement<\/a>. \u201cFollowing the announcement in the middle of the year of its intention to acquire a majority stake in the UCI WorldTour Team Lidl-Trek, the two partners, Lidl and Trek Bicycle, now announce the successful conclusion of the contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trek will retain \u201ca significant stake,\u201d while \u201cthe expansion of this joint collaboration contributes to achieving the long-term goal of becoming the most successful team in international cycling, underpinned by a shared culture and firm values,\u201d according to the German-American team.<\/p>\n

\"lidlLidl headquarters to play an increasingly important roleEverything was finalized during the training camp at Lidl Germany’s headquarters in Bad Wimpfen. The team had gathered there to kick off preparations for 2026. According to the team, more than 160 employees were present, including the men’s and women’s teams and new signings such as Juan Ayuso<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurthermore, a part of the Lidl Germany headquarters in Bad Wimpfen will serve as the team\u2019s new home in the future, symbolizing a commitment to shared infrastructure,\u201d the team announced. \u201cA new logistics center, which will include the team\u2019s organization, and a dedicated performance area are planned.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe latter is intended to support the Lidl-Trek team in achieving its own goals in the long term, while at the same time increasing its attractiveness to young, up-and-coming talent,\u201d the team said optimistically about the future.<\/p>\n

Thomas Rohregger, who holds an important position at Lidl, said: \u201cThe signing of this contract marks a monumental moment for Lidl-Trek. We approached this project with immense respect for the legacy that Lidl-Trek has built, and we are now formally and jointly committing to the next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rohregger provided some more context. \u201cThe partnership is based on the strategic goal of transferring Lidl\u2019s organizational excellence to Lidl-Trek and combining the expertise of both co-owners to achieve our ambitious goals.
