Prince William did not always have a strong connection with his grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.<\/p>\n

In a recent episode of Eugene Levy\u2018s Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler, the Prince of Wales, 43, opened up about how his relationship with his late grandparents evolved over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a good relationship. My grandparents were of a different generation,\u201d William told Levy, 78, as they stood inside Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when we were younger, it was harder to have that very close relationship because it was quite formal,\u201d William confessed.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, the future king said that as time passed, he grew closer to Elizabeth and Philip.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as they got older and I got older, it got warmer and warmer,\u201d he shared. \u201cAnd I definitely think my relationship was best with my grandparents when they were more in their, sort of, 80s, when they\u2019d sort of relaxed a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

William also noted that he \u201chad a lot of laughs\u201d with Philip.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had a great sense of humor, as did my grandmother, as well, actually,\u201d William quipped. \u201cBut my grandfather definitely was the one who\u2019d create quite a few laughs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was happy times. There was always a warmness, there was always a laughter, there was always a family feel,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd my grandparents loved having the family around them, so we were always encouraged to turn up and be around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thankfully, William got plenty of years to spend with both his grandparents. The Duke of Edinburgh passed away in April 2021 at Windsor Castle at the age of 99, and the former sovereign<\/a> died in September 2022 at Balmoral Castle at 96 years old.<\/p>\n
