(Supplied)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The TAB clubs to be closed are Maitland, Wagga Wagga and Broken Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Gambling helplines:<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Racing has also recently ceased at Dapto, bringing NSW&#8217;s total number of still operational tracks to 26.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">GRNSW said it was awaiting a response from the state government in relation to its request for an extension to the lease at Wentworth Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Once the government\u2019s intention is known a decision regarding the future of metropolitan racing will be made.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Griffin said the report ranked the clubs according to a range of criteria, including suitability, areas of access, profitability, racing injuries and the costs involved to bring them up to minimum track standards if required.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Clubs have until November 14 to respond to the recommendation before the board makes a final decision.<\/p>\n<p>Local club devastated<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The Broken Hill Greyhound Club said it was devastated by the decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The local club has been running for more than 50 years in far west NSW.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"aerial view of track in outback\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/846e2de9a86883fdf9a9c2d648976575\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Broken Hill Greyhound Club has been operating for about 50 years. (Supplied: Youtube)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A spokesperson for the NSW Minister for Racing David Harris said the state government supported a competitive, responsible and sustainable greyhound racing industry, &#8220;with the highest standard of animal welfare&#8221;. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;It is important that, in considering any decisions around its track portfolio, GRNSW engages appropriately with industry stakeholders, given the impact of any closures on greyhound racing participants,&#8221; the spokesperson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Editor&#8217;s note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the number of greyhound racing tracks set to close, and that the Wentworth Park track would close.
