Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Trey Yesavage will receive a significant bump in pay following his latest World Series appearance.<\/p>\n
In Game 5, the righty threw seven innings of one-run baseball to down the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>. The victory put Toronto one game closer to a potential title.<\/p>\n The Blue Jays<\/a> have battled out of a 2-1 series deficit thanks to back-to-back road wins. Yesavage played an integral role in the latest contest.<\/p>\n Who is Trey Yesavage?<\/p>\n The 22-year-old starting pitcher hails from Pennsylvania and attended college at East Carolina University. He was drafted by the organization in the first round of the 2024 selection process.<\/p>\n After beginning his 2025 campaign in the minor league system, he was called upon to join the Blue Jays\u2019 roster in September. He\u2019s been an excellent addition thus far.<\/p>\n Yesavage appeared in three games during the regular season. He went 1-0 with while posting a 3.21 ERA. That success has continued into the postseason.<\/p>\n Through five starts, he\u2019s 3-1 with 39 strikeouts across 26 frames. His most recent appearance was his most dominant.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Yesavage started Game 5 of the World Series. He struck out 12 Dodgers while allowing just three hits. The Blue Jays won the game, 6-1.<\/p>\n That victory gave Toronto a 3-2 series lead. The club is one game closer to its third MLB championship<\/a>, as well as a massive payday for its young pitcher.<\/p>\n How much was Yesavage paid for his MLB service?<\/p>\n Trey Yesavage<\/a> received a $4.175 million signing bonus after being drafted by the Blue Jays. The terms of his contract detailed a potential $760,000 salary for 2025.<\/p>\n That contract was non-guaranteed<\/a>. He will not receive the full salary as a result.<\/p>\n Players who are on Minor League or split contracts are not fully guaranteed their salaries.<\/p>\n A player on a split or Minor League contract will earn the prorated portion of his Major League salary for time spent on the Major League roster.<\/p>\n Yesavage\u2019s prorated rate for his three September starts? $57,204.<\/p>\n With that being said, World Series participants will receive a hefty bonus<\/a> at year\u2019s end.<\/p>\n MLB teams that make the playoffs are each awarded a portion of a pool of money made up of 60% of the total ticket sales across the minimum number of games played in the postseason, per the league\u2019s collective bargaining agreement with the MLB Players Association\u2026<\/p>\n That pool is split between all of the playoff teams, with the World Series winner receiving 36% of the pool and the runner-up getting 24%. The rest is split among the losers of the semifinals, the quarterfinals, and the Wild Card rounds.<\/p>\n The bonus money is then divided into shares for each player, with players for each team voting on how many full or partial shares they want to give out.<\/p>\n The 2024 Dodgers got about $46.5 million of a record pool of $129.1 million.<\/p>\n Last year, each player on the World Series winning team was paid $477,441. Should the Blue Jays win this year, they should be in for a similar bonus.<\/p>\n Yesavage\u2019s playoff paycheck would be around $400,000 more than his 2025 salary.
