\n Jesse Eisenberg<\/a> shocked some folks during an appearance on \u201cToday\u201d with an announcement which seemed to also surprise him.\n <\/p>\n

\n The \u201cNow You See Me: Now You Don\u2019t\u201d star was being hailed by the morning show\u2019s co-anchor Craig Melvin for being a big supporter of blood drives, given that Eisenberg once helped out and donated during one held at \u201cToday.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cYeah that\u2019s true,\u201d Eisenberg said.<\/a> \u201cI\u2019m actually donating my kidney in six weeks. I really am.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n As those present expressed their surprise, the actor added, \u201cI don\u2019t know why. I got bitten by the blood donation bug. Yeah, I love it..\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe Social Network\u201d actor explained that he was \u201cdoing an altruistic donation<\/a>\u201d in mid-December.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019m so excited to do it,\u201d he added.\n <\/p>\n

\n In a separate interview<\/a>, Eisenberg got more in depth into why he was giving his kidney to a stranger.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt\u2019s essentially risk-free and so needed,\u201d he said. \u201cI think people will realize that it\u2019s a no-brainer, if you have the time and the inclination.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Eisenberg said he originally had the idea to donate a decade ago, but never heard back from an organization he approached about doing it.\n <\/p>\n
