Georgie Tunny<\/a> is expected to be taking on a new position at Channel 10<\/a> in 2026 after one of the network\u2019s biggest names<\/a> announced their departure this week. Chris Bath is leaving her role as host of 10 News Weekend, with\u00a0the broadcaster reportedly deciding not to renew her contract to save costs.<\/p>\n

The veteran newsreader, who has been with the network for over seven years, hosts a 90-minute national Saturday evening bulletin and a one-hour Sunday evening bulletin, as well as a separate 90-minute Perth bulletin. She also hosts a drive radio program on ABC Sydney from Monday to Thursday.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s already been reported that The Project<\/a>\u2019s former host Georgie Tunny will be taking over next year, marking her sixth role<\/a> on Channel 10 in 12 months.<\/p>\n

In addition to hosting The Project until its cancellation<\/a> in June, Georgie was the narrator on House Hunters Australia<\/a> and a contestant on The Amazing Race Australia<\/a> with her partner, Rob Mills.<\/p>\n

She is also currently a fill-in presenter on the network\u2019s current affairs program, 10 News+<\/a>, and was announced in August as the host of The Brighter Side<\/a>, a weekly program helping viewers tackle financial challenges.<\/p>\n

Major change to 10 News+<\/p>\n

The news comes shortly after it was announced that Channel 10\u2019s underperforming current affairs program 10 News+ will be trimmed from one hour to 30 minutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Amelia Brace and Denham Hitchcock will continue co-hosting 10 News+ from Sunday to Thursday, with Ursula Heger and Hugh Riminton presenting on Fridays.<\/p>\n

The program will also keep its 6pm time slot following the network\u2019s hour-long state-based news bulletins, with Deal Or No Deal<\/a>\u00a0now airing at 6:30pm and the upcoming reboot of Millionaire Hot Seat<\/a>,\u00a0hosted by Rebecca Gibney, airing at 7pm.<\/p>\n

‘We’re in this for the long haul’<\/p>\n

Ten\u2019s news chief, Martin White, told the Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>\u00a0that the change will \u201ctake some pressure off\u201d the hosts and allow them to break more stories.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a lot easier to break stories if you\u2019re not having to file every single night, so I think this will serve the team really well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Martin also asserted that, despite regular reports that the show is being cancelled, 10 News+ is here to stay.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re investing in the show by making it half an hour because we think it will work better. We\u2019re not getting rid of it; we\u2019re in this for the long haul,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
