WA is in for yet another wet weekend, with strong wind warnings put in place and thunderstorms anticipated to slam parts of the State.<\/p>\n

Showers will hit WA\u2019s metropolitan area and South West from Friday afternoon, with more than 5mm of rainfall forecast to pour down across the city throughout the night.<\/p>\n

The majority of the weekend\u2019s rainfall is expected to slam the metropolitan area between 5pm on Friday and 2am on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Bureau meteorologist Jessica Lingard told PerthNow<\/a> that Friday evening\u2019s showers will predominantly impact those living south of the river.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe front will be coming from the south so on Friday the showers will mainly affect those living in the State\u2019s South West and Perth\u2019s south,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShowers will reach Perth\u2019s northern suburbs, but this will be later on Friday night closer to 9pm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other parts of the state, however, have more to worry about than just the showers.<\/p>\n

Strong winds are anticipated along the western coast throughout Friday, with a strong wind warning issued for those living along the Bunbury, Leeuwin, Albany, and Eucla coasts.<\/p>\n

Strong wind warnings indicate an area will be hit with average wind speeds greater than 63km\/hr, or will experience gusts exceeding 90km\/hr.<\/p>\n

The warnings will stay in effect in these regions until Sunday, with residents in Ningaloo, Gascoyne and Esperance also warned about strong wind on Saturday.<\/p>\n

South West residents living south of Busselton are also at high risk of thunderstorms on Friday afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will definitely see a lot of showers from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning, with a high chance of thunderstorms in the area,\u201d Ms Lingard said.<\/p>\n

While the weekend starts out wet and cold, those with outdoor weekend plans don\u2019t need to go cancelling them just yet!<\/p>\n

The skies are expected to clear up by Saturday afternoon, with Ms Lingard saying the cold front will move inland, taking the gloomy weather with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be a few showers through Saturday morning, but we expect the cold front to have passed by Saturday afternoon and bring a sunny rest of the weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sunshine will hit the Perth area again on Sunday, with clear skies and a temperature high of 25 degrees.<\/p>\n

Ms Lingard had a simple reminder for WA residents planning to make the most of Sunday\u2019s sunshine after a wet weekend: \u201cSlip, slop, slap!\u201d<\/p>\n
