Celebrity chef Jameson Stocks has spoken out about what he believes would be Queen Elizabeth II’s very unfavourable view of Meghan Markle’s “overpriced” As Ever lifestyle brand.<\/p>\n
Stocks, who is an ambassador for King Charles’ Trust charity and once cooked for the monarch, on Thursday said the late Queen would believe the Duchess of Sussex, 44, was tactfully using her HRH title and estrangement from the Royal Family to market her overpriced jams.<\/p>\n
“I think the Queen would feel that she is exploiting the ‘everyday’ people and using the royals as a marketing tool to sell jam,” he told the Daily Express.<\/p>\n
\u201cRoyal family or not, I don\u2019t think any family would appreciate someone coming in and making money off the back of the family name.<\/p>\n
\u201cAdmiration comes with class and the way you hold up as a person.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meghan’s As Ever holiday collection features products such as her Signature Fruit Spread Gift Set for USD $42 (AUD 64.08), as well as a Honey Duo Gift Set ($62) and spiced candles priced at $64.<\/p>\n
The California-based brand also offers a wine collection, featuring a 2021 Vintage Napa Valley Brut for $89 and Meghan’s signature ros\u00e9 for $35.<\/p>\n
Days before she unveiled her holiday collection, Meghan showcased a $860 tote bag with her royal initials emblazoned on the front, despite no longer being an active member of the royal family.<\/p>\n
The move was seen as a direct breach of an agreement Meghan and Prince Harry made with the Queen before her death, to no longer use their HRH prefixes when they stepped down from royal duties in 2020.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Stocks claimed the Suits alum’s business model \u201ccompletely misses the mark\u201d and caters only to a percentage of the wealthy.<\/p>\n
The chef said residents in Sussex’s hometown of California or the neighbouring Napa Valley wine region might be willing to invest in Meghan’s local products, adding, “they\u2019re obviously her target market.”<\/p>\n
However, he said “the vast majority of people” paying for baby food, heating, and going to work would “pass on a \u00a330 ($60.21) \u2018everyday\u2019 bottle of wine, I am sure – even if it is\u00a0Meghan Markle branded.\u201d<\/p>\n
Continuing to dig at Prince Harry’s wife’s brand, Stocks claimed Meghan would convert any product into a “luxury” one if she could make a profit.<\/p>\n
He quipped she’ll soon be flogging “California air in a jar.”<\/p>\n
It’s not the first time the chef has taken a swipe at the renegade royal. In August Stocks said the mother-of-two’s decision to focus on the cooking and lifestyle space may end up limiting her career prospects.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cShe won\u2019t stray from cooking, and Netflix, along with other investors, has invested heavily in her and her lifestyle brand,\u201d he told The Daily Express.<\/p>\n
