The NCAA will \u201cimplement player availability reports for the 2026 men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball tournaments in March,\u201d according to David Purdum of ESPN.com. Teams must \u201csubmit their availability reports to the NCAA the night before their games and again two hours before tipoff.\u201d The reports will be \u201cmade available to the public.\u201d Players will be \u201cassumed to be available unless designated as questionable or out,\u201d and inaccurate reporting \u201cmight result in penalties for the school.\u201d The decision to require availability reports, which came after \u201cmonths of discussion,\u201d is part of the NCAA\u2019s \u201cefforts to shield student-athletes from sports betting influences and protect the integrity of the games.\u201d Data firm HD Intelligence, which works with multiple conferences on availability reports, \u201cwill serve as the NCAA\u2019s player availability service provider.\u201d The NCAA will \u201cassess continuing the program at future Division I basketball championships and other championship events\u201d (ESPN.com, 10\/30<\/a>).
