<\/p>\n OTTAWA, Kan. \u2014 The Ottawa University women’s basketball team opened its 2025\u201326 season in dominant fashion, cruising to a 97\u201349 victory over Kansas Christian College on Friday night inside Wilson Field House. The Braves used a balanced scoring attack and suffocating defense to take control early and never looked back.<\/p>\n First Quarter Second Quarter Third Quarter The quarter ended with Dominique Schutte<\/a> drilling a three-pointer at the buzzer to give OU a commanding 78\u201334 advantage.<\/p>\n Fourth Quarter As a team, Ottawa shot 41.1 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from three-point range, finishing with 28 assists on 37 made baskets.<\/p>\n Who is Next
\nKansas Christian held an early 6\u20132 advantage before the Braves settled in with a barrage of three-pointers. Kaelynn Duncan<\/a> knocked down back-to-back triples, and Clare Williams<\/a> added one of her own to spark an 11\u20130 Ottawa run. Duncan stayed hot from deep, scoring six points in the frame as OU took a 19\u201312 lead after one.<\/p>\n
\nThe Braves exploded offensively in the second, outscoring the Falcons 25\u201311. Tiyani Rollins<\/a> opened the period with a three-pointer before Duncan buried three more from behind the arc, giving her 18 points by halftime. McKinley Kruger<\/a> and Clare Williams<\/a> each added threes of their own as Ottawa extended its lead to 44\u201323 at the break.<\/p>\n
\nOttawa’s defense and tempo overwhelmed Kansas Christian in the third quarter, as the Braves outscored the visitors 34\u201311. Miranda Patterson<\/a> and Ashlynn Arnsman<\/a> each scored early baskets to build momentum, and the Braves’ second unit kept the pace high. Williams hit two more threes, and freshman Grace McPhail<\/a> buried one to push the lead to over 40.<\/p>\n
\nOttawa continued to roll in the final frame, as Arnsman scored two quick buckets and McPhail, Williams, and Kimberly Cruz<\/a> each connected from long range. Cruz capped the night with a three-pointer and an assist to Kiana Hostetler<\/a> for the final basket, sealing the 97\u201349 win.
