Naitasiri responded with authority, scoring tries through flanker Veniasi Vosawale and winger Elaisa Bete to take a narrow 12-10 lead into halftime.

However, the second half belonged entirely to Malolo. Emerging from the break with renewed ferocity, they scored 26 unanswered points in a breathtaking 14-minute period. A try from outside center Esala Nalobo was quickly followed by five-pointers from lock Peniasi Ratu, inside center Joseva Tamata, and a brilliant solo effort from Douglas Daveta, who also slotted four consecutive conversions.

Facing a mounting deficit, Naitasiri mounted a brave late fightback with tries from Sakanaia Soqonakalou and captain Jone Naqiri, but the comeback bid fell short. Malolo replacement Tevita Ledua sealed the deal with a calm drop goal in the 77th minute, bringing the final score to 41-26 and sparking wild celebrations.

In a classic tale of David versus Goliath, Malolo’s victory was a testament to their strategic preparation and unwavering self-belief. Assistant Coach Josefa Domolailai revealed that their game plan was built not on brute force, but on agility and heart.

“Our team didn’t have any big players or big names in our squad through the season, but we worked on our speed and belief to back ourselves,” said a proud Domolailai. “I told the boys, ‘with your speed and aggressiveness, you can win.’”

Domolailai also paid tribute to their worthy opponents, stating, “I thank Naitasiri for giving us a worthy game in the finals.”

For a disappointed Naitasiri, the loss was a hard lesson in finals football. Coach Timoci Tinaviti pinpointed lapses in discipline as the key factor in their downfall.

“Even though we fell short today, I’m proud of our team performance and the work put in through the season to reach the finals,” Tinaviti said. “It was our yellow cards that held us back, and Malolo played to that advantage with a strong game in the second half.”

The victory marks a monumental achievement for Malolo Rugby, proving that with speed, strategy, and sheer determination, even without star names, history can be made.

In a stunning display of speed and belief, the Malolo team has etched its name into the history…

[567
64,63,760,85
0":"post-255209","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-rugby","8":"tag-au","9":"tag-australia","10":"tag-rugby","11":"tag-sports
["GET
