{"id":256119,"date":"2025-11-01T20:09:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T20:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/256119\/"},"modified":"2025-11-01T20:09:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T20:09:06","slug":"memphis-grizzlies-ja-morant-lashes-out-at-coaching-staff-after-nba-cup-defeat-nba-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/256119\/","title":{"rendered":"Memphis Grizzlies&#8217; Ja Morant lashes out at coaching staff after NBA Cup defeat | NBA Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Memphis Grizzlies All-Star guard Ja Morant took aim at his own coaches when asked about his struggles during the team\u2019s 117-112 loss to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/los-angeles-lakers\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Morant went 3-for-14 from the floor \u2013 and 0-for-6 from three-point range \u2013 en route to being limited to just eight points in the setback.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">When asked about what he noticed about the game, Morant told reporters to \u201cgo ask the coaching staff.\u201c<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He repeated a similar version of that answer on four separate occasions before being asked what could\u2019ve been done differently to get a better outcome in the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cAccording to them, probably don\u2019t play me, honestly,\u201d Morant said. \u201cThat\u2019s basically what the message was after [the game]. It\u2019s cool.\u201c<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Morant is averaging 20.8 points and 6.7 assists while logging a career-low 28.5 minutes through six games under Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo.
